Walking in Alignment: Living the Life God Designed for Us

What Is Alignment and Why Does It Matter?

When I look back on the journey I’ve had—gaining a PhD in biochemistry, traveling to beautiful places, working in various industries, starting a blog, writing a book, launching businesses—I can’t help but marvel. I grew up without financial resources, without an earthly father, and with limited connections. Fulfilling these dreams once felt impossible. And yet, here I am.

People often ask, “How did you get to do this or that? How did you prepare?”

The truth? I never had a grand plan. I had an active imagination, a love for reading, and a deep yearning for something more. But beneath all that was something even more powerful: alignment. Even though I took the long way around, there was a divine connection with God and His plan for my life. That connection was birthed through the dreams He placed in my heart.

Alignment is when our actions, values, beliefs, and goals are in harmony—especially with our purpose and faith. It’s about living authentically and faithfully, in a way that reflects who we truly are (the authentic self) and who God created us to be.

Are We Living According to Our Core Values as believers?

To live in alignment, we must first know our core values. These are the internal compass points that guide our decisions, relationships, and lifestyle. I was able to fulfill my dreams because “dream” was one of my core values. That value drove every decision I made—and it served me well as a single woman.

But when I had my son, everything changed. My life circumstances shifted, and I wanted to change too. I needed to become a mother. I believe I became the best single parent I could be, until I got married and the process of becoming a wife and a mother was bestowed on me. Then I had my second child. When I am in my purpose (what I am called to do in that season) I am well, but there were times that I kept searching for more, stretching for the future. Balancing it all evaded my grip, a battle I sometimes lose. Recently, this looked like exhaustion.

I needed to CHANGE again!

Becoming is process, a journey with God.

Lasting change doesn’t come from external pressures; it begins within—at the level of core beliefs and values, those that Jesus, God incarnate lived by.

What Beliefs Are We Building Our Lives On?

Our beliefs shape our reality. Whether we realize it or not, they influence every decision we make. But have we ever questioned where those beliefs come from?

Many of us operate on autopilot or fall back into beliefs we once changed, influenced by tradition, culture, or past experiences. And not everything we’ve learned was true. Some of it is based on assumptions, half-truths, or even outright lies.

Here are a few powerful questions to reflect on:

  • Why do I do what I do?
  • What information am I feeding my mind?
  • Are my thoughts grounded in truth (love), or rooted in fear and falsehood?

Jesus gives us a model for truth. He lived by values like kindness, forgiveness, compassion, family, and growth. He walked with people from all backgrounds and taught them how to think differently—to have the mind of Christ.

As believers, we are invited to follow Him.

The journey of following Christ isn’t about perfection. We are human, and we will make mistakes. Pain, circumstances, or distractions can cause us to forget or even betray our values—our authentic selves. That’s why self-awareness is vital.

Are we aware when we’ve strayed from our values? When we’ve betrayed our true selves?

When we reconnect with our values, we can course-correct and realign with God’s purpose.

Can We Change the Lies We’ve Believed?

Absolutely. Many of us are held back not by God, or by others, but by the lies we’ve believed; about ourselves, about God, and about what’s possible.

The good news is: truth sets us free.

We can replace every lie with truth from God’s Word. This isn’t about denying reality; it’s about choosing faith.

Start by speaking scripture over our lives. Let the Word of God be our daily affirmation. Use it to challenge and uproot false beliefs. I call this practice “feeding the spirit.”

Go beyond cherry-picking feel-good verses—dive deep into scripture. Let it renew our mind, shift our perspective, and guide our actions.

Are We Ready to Walk in Alignment?

Walking in alignment doesn’t mean being perfect. It means being intentional. It means surrendering our plans to God and trusting His timing.

Jesus modeled this beautifully. He was flexible—often interrupted in His journey, yet always moved with compassion and purpose.

To live in alignment is to stop striving and start thriving. We’re not hustling—we’re listening. We’re not guessing—we’re walking by the Spirit.

“Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” – James 4:7

                                                                                             Submit. Resist. Align.

This is the rhythm of a life fully surrendered to God’s design.

Yes, we are meant to fulfill dreams—but not at the cost of betraying our core values and authentic selves. Let’s take steps toward submitting to God’s plan for our lives. This happens by changing our core values and the habits they produce—one or two at a time.

And don’t be surprised if the process feels like suffering: abandonment, rejection, isolation, illness, persecution, or even incarceration. In those moments, resist the urge to blame, accuse, lie, complain, curse, gossip, or harm. Instead, overcome by focusing on God.

Focus on the values Jesus modeled. Stay the course, friends.

Let’s walk in divine alignment.

With love and growth,

Sanchia and team.
