Walking by Faith: A Journey Through Uncertainty

When Life Tests Your Faith, How Do We Respond?

In life, there are moments that test our resilience, push us to our limits, and challenge our faith. For me, one of those moments came while running a care business. A venture that was filled with both purpose and, at times, overwhelming uncertainty.

In London, we relied on local councils to pay us for the services we provided—but they often worked on their own schedule. That meant we didn’t always get paid on time, and small businesses like ours were left in difficult situations. I remember times when I sat wondering how we would pay our staff—the same staff we counted on and who counted on us to pay them fairly and on time.

How To Walk By Faith When Resources Run Low?

As the invoices piled up and the funds dwindled, I found myself in a whirlwind of stress. I would spend countless hours seeking out solutions, borrowing from friends, and chasing down accounts departments—only to face silence or delays. The pressure was immense, and with the weight of responsibility on my shoulders, I would often return home on a Friday evening feeling defeated, unsure of what Monday would bring.

The thought of facing my staff, who were equally concerned about their paychecks, weighed heavily on my heart. I knew they had their own commitments and responsibilities, and I desperately wanted to provide for them.

How To Walk By Faith When We Feel Overwhelmed?

One particular occasion, I left the office on Friday evening very dejected after trying ceaselessly to find funds. That weekend, I turned to prayer, seeking peace, and guidance amidst the chaos. I tried my best to shield my young sons from my anxiety, knowing that they would pick up on my emotions and feel unsettled by the tension in our home.

Can Faith Carry Us Through Uncertainty?

When Monday arrived, I went to the office unsure of what to expect. The uncertainty loomed large, but I had resolved to trust in God’s provision. It was a leap of faith—one that echoed the words of 2 Corinthians 5:7, “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” I held onto that promise, believing that somehow, someway, we would find a resolution.

As I settled into the office, I received an unexpected call from my business partner. With a sense of disbelief, she shared the news that she had found a check in the mail from an unlikely source. This check contained enough funds to cover our payroll for up to three weeks! It was a miracle I could hardly believe! In that moment, the stress and anxiety that had plagued me over the weekend melted away, replaced by a profound sense of gratitude.

What Does Trusting in God’s Provision Look Like?

This experience served as a powerful reminder of the importance of faith during uncertain times. We often find ourselves focused on our situation—what we can see, what we can control—but God calls us to trust in Him, even when the path ahead seems unclear. In our struggles, we can find strength in the knowledge that we are not alone; He is guiding us, providing for us in ways we may not expect.

Are You Ready to Surrender Your Worries?

As I reflect on this journey, I am reminded of the resilience of the human spirit and the power of faith. Whether in business, personal challenges, or any other area of life, we are encouraged to walk by faith, trusting that God’s provision will meet our needs. When we surrender our worries and lean into faith, we open ourselves up to the miraculous ways in which God can work in our lives.

So, if you find yourself in a situation that feels overwhelming, remember: you are not alone. Trust in God’s timing and His provision. You may just wake up one Monday morning to a miracle waiting for you in the mail.

Love,

Debbie
