Why do we want an abundant life?

No problem man

Recently, I have been waking up with a song singing in my soul. I am the perfect singer there – in my soul. The last time this happened I was on my way to completing my PhD, a childhood dream.

The singing reminded me of a time when I felt fulfilled, satisfied, and unstoppable. I have done some things since, but not as fulfilling. Interestingly, I did not know if my thesis was approved, and I still feared taking the oral exam, yet I was walking on air!

How is this possible? I practiced daily and did all I needed to do. Knowing that I did my best, I released the expectations and allowed life to take its course. In other words;  no problem man.

It was my version at that time of an abundant life.

What is the abundant life?

The abundant life is having a full and significant life; and not merely existing. It is knowing and carrying out the purposes for our lives and living to our full potential. The abundant life is not about material things or  the absence of challenges. It is when you learn to be content in any situation. It is a state of being.

What does science say about the abundant life?

In psychology, the abundant life is called the abundance or growth mindset instead of a scarcity, fixed, or limiting mindset.

A scarcity mindset says, “keep, hoard, do not give because there is not enough (money, time, things etc.).”

A fixed mindset says, “I am not good at a thing. Therefore, I will not try.”

A limiting mindset says, “I can only do a certain thing, I can only go this far and no further.” This mindset limits our potential (e.g. having a degree in a field, so I can work only in that field).

The abundance mindset says give, because there is always more, I can grow and become better at anything I put my mind to, and my potential is limitless.

Wait, this all sounds familiar

What does the Bible say about the abundant life?

The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows]. John 10:10

Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” Luke 6:38

Are you of the mindset that if you give, you won’t get more?

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13

Is there something you dream of doing, but think that you are unable to do it?

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. Matt 7:7

You do not have because you do not ask God. When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures. James 4:2-3

Ask for what you want.

How can you have the abundant life?

We have access to an abundant life because Jesus already came.

Believe.

Make Jesus Christ the Lord of your life and allow him to teach you how to live life to the full.

Jesus knows what it meant to suffer and die even when he was faultless. He gave his life for us, so we can have a significant life.

He healed the sick, raised the dead, fed multitudes and so on – he lived life without limits.

Yes, Jesus is 100% God, but he ate, sleep, and wept like us – he was also 100% human. Therefore, we too can have his mindset – the abundant mindset.

All things are possible with God!

So, here I am with no expectations, yet feeling like anything is possible, and a singing in my soul. The next thing I know, I received a package with my book, another dream fulfilled!

This book will help you on your journey to fulfilling your God-given dreams!

Blessings!
